Again, we woke to a dense fog that was just beginning to burn off. We waited until after 8:00 a.m. to leave the anchorage until we had decent visibility. The scenery is lush and beautiful, with water birds and marsh grass creating picture-postcard sights everywhere you look. This is what is referred to as the ‘Low Country’, navigating through the North Edisto River, into the Dawho River, then the South Edisto River through Seabrook and Edisto Islands. Again we had dolphin follow us for most of the morning as they fished in the deep waters around us.
We had a nice sailing day and called it a day around 4:00 p.m. We started into an anchorage only to find it was too shallow for us. We turned around and headed south again as we knew of an anchorage another five miles south that we headed for in a hurry. We were running out of daylight and knew we wanted to have the hook down before dusk. We anchored just on the north side of the Lady’s Island Bridge that connects Beaufort, SC with Lady’s Island. We were glad to be parked for the evening safe and sound.
We had a very short day as we planned to head south just 4 miles to a marina in Port Royal, SC. A cold front was pushing through and the forecast was for some nasty weather so we pulled into Port Royal to rest and take a safe haven for a few days.
